• May 6th: Come Dance with Us, Hogansville Active Life, 407 Church Street, Hogansville, on Saturday May 6. Live Music and doors open at 6:30 pm. • Now – May 8th: Public Notice! Main Street from East Depot Street to Frank Tigner Street will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, April 24, 2017 for approximately two (2) weeks. A detour route will be available and posted with signage to help avoid the work zone area. Questions concerning this work may be directed to David E. Brown, Director of Public Services at 883-2010 or Chris Prather, Street Manager at 883-2100.

• Now – May 15th: CASA of Troup County, Inc. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is in need of community volunteers. Volunteers will be screened and trained to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children involved in dependency proceedings while they are in foster care. Training classes will be May 15, 17, 22, 25, and 30 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. The trainings will be held at the CASA office at 118 Ridley Avenue. • May 5th: Officials from the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and the NCAA will be at LaGrange College from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.May 5 in the Bailey Room in Smith Hall for a symposium on how to get into the sports industry. Scheduled to appear are Chris Howard, director of football compliance for the NCAA; Aaron Johnson, marketing coordinator for the Detroit Pistons; Warren Parr, director of sales for the Atlanta Falcons; and Joe Rickert and Angela Spence, senior consultants for premium group memberships for the Atlanta Hawks. • May 6th from 10:00 – 2:00: First Saturday Book Sale! The Friends of LaGrange Memorial Library will be selling used books. Stop by and find a deal! LaGrange Memorial Library 115 Alford St, LaGrange, GA, 30240.

• May 6th: On Saturday, May 6th, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office will hold our 8th annual car show benefitting benefiting the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home “Pineland”. The event will take place at Pyne Road Park located at 4481 Roanoke Rd. and will begin at 9 a.m. lasting until 2 p.m. Over the years several thousand dollars have been raised and donated to Pineland. The entry fee for any car, truck, or motorcycle is twenty dollars the day of, or you can pre-register for fifteen dollars. There is no cost to attend the event, which in the past has included over 100 entry’s, along with great food and venders a 50/50 raffle and an auction. • May 10th: You’re invited! Diverse Power Annual Meeting of Members on May 10, 2017 at Diverse Power headquarters, 1400 South Davis Road, LaGrange, Diverse Power Pataula District office, 373 U.S. Highway 82 East, Cuthbert. Registration: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All registered members receive a registration gift and the opportunity to win a $200 credit to your power bill. Lunch: 11 a.m. A free hotdog and hamburger lunch begins. Entertainment: 11:45 a.m. Nashville-based country-gospel duo Randy and Sherri Miller will perform. Program: 1:15 p.m. Presentation of colors, introduction by Diverse Power President/CEO Wayne Livingston, and the official business session will be followed by door prizes and presentation of grand prizes.

• May 10th: The LaGrange Woman’s Club will be hosting a Bridge/Mahjongg fundraiser on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Bellevue. Tickets are $25. All proceeds benefit the maintenance of Bellevue.
