Mayor Drew Ferguson Announces 3rd District Congressional Campaign

West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson announced that he will be a candidate for the United States Congress representing Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District. “Washington is broken and as a small businessman I know that what our communities need from Congress is that they get out of the way and let us create jobs and economic opportunity for our citizens,” Ferguson said. “We are a conservative place, and I want to put conservative principles to work for the whole district like we have in West Point where we have cut taxes and utility rates while creating an economic development boom.”

Mayor Drew Ferguson A. Drew Ferguson, IV DMD attended the University of Georgia from 1985 to 1998. He has a degree in dental medicine. In 1992 he opened a general practice in West Point, GA. He is a member of the western district dental society and a member of the Georgia Dental Association. He is an adjunct and faculty member of the Medical College, Georgia School of Dentistry since 1999.

In addition, he has been the Secretary/Treasurer of the Western District Dental Society since 2000. He was the President elect of the Western District Dental Society in 2000. He was the President of the Western District Dental Society from 2001 to 2002 and in the city of West Point Board of Alderman from 1997 to 1999. He served on the capital city bank community board of Directors from 2003 to 2008 as well as the Lanier Memorial Hospital Board of Directors from 2004 to 2007.

He attended the Pierre Fauchard Academy (an International Honor Dental Org.) from 2005 to the present. He is a member of the International College of Dentists since 2005 and was elected into the Honorable Fellowship by the Georgia Dental Association. In 2008 he was also elected into the fellowship of American College of Dentists, the West Point 2100 foundation board, and to the position of Mayor in West Point, GA.

Since 2009, he has been a member of Troup Strategic Plan Incorporated Board. In 2012 he was appointed by Governor Deal to criminal justice coordinating council, became chairman of State Statistic Analysis Committee, and a board member on the downtown West Point Development Authority. In 2013, he became a board member on the Valley Partnership of Joint economic Development and in 2015 he became chairman of the Troup County Center for Strategic Planning.

He is married to Elizabeth C. Ferguson and they have four children: Drew, Lucy, Mary Parks, and Thad.
