Police are investigating what appears to be an incident of Attempted Arson after a homeowner found smoldering remains on her back porch.
Tuesday night about 7:53 p.m., officers with the La-Grange Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Juniper Street in reference to an attempted Arson.
Police arrived and spoke to the adult female victim, who advised that earlier that date unknown person(s) had attempted to set her home on fire by placing a burning cardboard sign on a small wooden deck in the rear of her home.
Officers inspected the damage and confirmed that a small cardboard sign had been set ablaze and placed on the wooden steps of the home.
Fortunately, the flame extinguished itself before the actual home was damaged. The only damage was to the wooden steps and sign.
The victim advised the fire may be related to an incident involving her son getting into an argument with another subject over a cell phone.
This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
