Hogansville Police, Callaway High, And Hogansville Elementary Team Up For Thanksgiving Meals Program

On Monday, November 21, 2016, Hogansville Police Department employees were gearing up to the 3rd Annual Hogansville P.D. Thanksgiving Meals Program. A partnership with Callaway High School, coordinated by the Callaway High Air Force ROTC unit brought in over 2,200 cans of food ranging from canned vegetables to soups that were donated by students from the High School. Several hundred cans of food were also collected from Hogansville Elementary.

The Hogansville Police Department’s goal this year was to reach out to the community and provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to approximately 50 Hogansville families that may need assistance. Each meal package contains food items to feed 4-6 people, to include: Fresh Turkey or Baked Chicken, Vegetables (Green Beans, Corn, Peas, Carrots and Mashed Potatoes), Dressing and gravy, Dessert / Fruit, and Cranberry Sauce.

“Thanks to Callaway Principal Laney’s assistance and the hard work by Chief Lamb’s ROTC cadets and Principal Bryant at Hogansville, we have exceeded our goals. I am really proud of the community, especially the staff and students at Callaway High and Hogansville Elementary” according to Chief Brian Harr. “We will be making donations of the extra canned goods to the Hogansville Senior Center and God’s Bread Basket once our meals packages have been delivered.”

This program is largely dependent on community sponsors and donations. A specials thanks goes out to: Love’s Travel Center, Ingles, Piggly Wiggly, Dollar General and Tucker Boys.
