Krewe Of Mask Parade And Party

A family friendly, authentic Mardi Gras Parade, here in LaGrange?

The ‘Krewe of Mask’ parades and celebrates Mardi Gras in LaGrange complete with floats, beads, doubloons, cups and other throws at 7 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017. This is the first Mardi Gras parade here and as such, you are invited to be a part of history. Bring the family. If you’re lucky enough to live near the route, consider having a parade party that night.

The parade forms at Granger Park and starts up Highland, turning right behind LaGrange High School on Marshall and Bacon Streets to Ridley Avenue. At City Hall it passes the judges stand/show-mobile. This site will have a DJ and ‘music in the streets’ before and after the parade as well as running commentary on the units. The judges will evaluate each unit as they pass. One of the judges awards is ‘Best Costume in the Crowd’ so if you come in costume, you might want to stop by there.

At City Hall, the King and Queen of Mardi Gras and the acting Mayor will toast. This is the only planned stop of the parade.

From there, the parade continues south, past a ‘Krewe Party’ in progress at DelAvant. More about that later!

At Broome Street, the parade turns west, and turns onto Bull Street. It proceeds north, turning west onto Broad Street passing the historic homes and buildings. Going as close as Ben Hill Street, the parade reaches towards the college before turning again, east on Haralson. From there, it’s north on Greenwood to the disband point, Granger Park.

When the ‘KREWE OF MASK’ disbands, the floats will go back to their respective places, but the Krewe members will go back to Del’Avant to join the party already in progress.

The parade is free to the public and all are welcome.

If you also want to be at the party, this year we are able to offer tickets to this tremendous event. Jamie Keating will be catering, so the food’s going to be great. There’s a cash bar in Del’Avant but NO drinking on the streets. Live music will be inside Del’Avant with a DJ on the roof, second line dancing, a light show and an all around good time. It’s all yours for a $75 ticket. The party starts at 6 PM on Saturday, February 11th. This gives you time to park, hang out and go see the parade after a few good tunes.

The structure of the party is unique, ramping up with the parade, ramping up again with the return of the Krewe and ending at 11 PM – no matter how good we’re feeling.

The Krewe of Mask is a philanthropic organization, benefiting two local charities.

A limited amount of tickets are available in the following stores in LaGrange: Tournesol, Merle Norman, Sweet Pea’s Florist, The Market Place, Seven Kingdoms Studio, The Red Door Antiques. Further details can be obtained at www. kreweofmask.com or through John Cashen (706) 333-6501.
