Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a suspect who they believe committed numerous commercial burglaries within the City of LaGrange and throughout Troup County.
Sheriff’s Investigators finally located and arrested Davaris C. Lindsey, of La-Grange, after six to eight week investigation into numerous business burglaries throughout unincorporated areas of Troup County.
Deputies had been attempting to locate Lindsey for some time and had been conducting surveillance on areas he was known to frequent when Investigators notices his vehicle and attempted to conduct an investigative stop on the vehicle. Investigators say Lindsey then began driving like a madman and attempted to elude them, but he was ultimately stopped and taken into custody.
As a result of the Sheriff’s Office investigation, Lindsey was charged with three counts of Burglary and a single count of Tampering With/Influencing a witness.
Investigators found cash registers stolen from convenience stores that Lindsey allegedly burglaries in his possession.
LaGrange Police have filed additional charges against Lindsey for burglaries that he allegedly committed within the city.
Police say that Lindsey burglarized gas stations on Lukken Industrial Drive and Lafayette Parkway, beauty supply stores on Vernon Road and Whitesville Road, and Salvage City on Lukken Industrial Drive. Detectives believe he burglarized some of these locations more than once.
His alleged method of operation was similar for several of the burglaries. Security video showed a male suspect throwing a rock through front glass doors to gain entry into the businesses, where he grabbed cash registers and other items, before quickly leaving the scene.
Lindsey, age 33, is currently being held at the Troup County Jail on 10 counts of Burglary, Felony Theft, Reckless Driving, Attempting to Elude Officers, and numerous other misdemeanor offenses.
Sheriff’s Investigators also charged Tanya Brewer, age 41, of LaGrange, after she allegedly hindered them during the course of the investigation.
These incidents are still under investigation in preparation for court proceedings.
