Local Barbershop Shot Up

Detectives are investigating an incident were a local barber was shot as he attempted to close up shop late Friday night. Police have not identified any suspects, but it appears as if the assailant may have returned to the scene and fired on the barber after being told he couldn’t get a haircut.

Late Friday night about 11p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the Total Image Barber Shop in reference to reports of a subject shot.

Police arrived and made contact with an employee of the barbershop, who stated that he closed the shop and was approached by two or three males as he attempted to lock the door.

One of the unknown males then fired a single gunshot into the front glass door of the business near where he was standing. The victim stated the gunshot struck him in the right arm, but it is unclear if he was struck by the bullet or if his injuries came from the shattered glass.

The victim explained that he had been cutting a friend’s hair when a younger black male came into the shop. He told the subject that he was not cutting anyone else’s hair, but the young male sat down and began just hanging out. The shop owner stated he later asked the unknown subject to leave because something just didn’t feel right.

About five minutes later he went to lock the door and the subjects showed up and fired into the shop.

The assailants then fled the area on foot, running in separate directions toward the Benjamin Harvey Homes and toward West Crovat Street.

The victim described the suspects as young black males in their late teens to early twenties, wearing red bandanas over their faces and hooded jackets.

The victim later treated at Well Star West Georgia Hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

This incident is still under investigation by the La-Grange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
