Sheriff’s Investigators have arrested a store clerk after he allegedly allowed couple of friends steal merchandise belonging to his employer.
Sheriff’s Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office began looking into the incidents several weeks ago after management at the Dollar General on Greenville Road reported the thefts.
During the investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators were able to determine the store clerk, Jamarius Hightower, allegedly allowed Charlotte McGruder and Mario Brisco, of LaGrange, to steal merchandise from the store using a variety of methods. Investigators say Hightower received a small payment from the other suspects for the store goods and he allowed them to take numerous items belonging to Dollar General without payment. Deputies noted that these incidents were also caught on store security video.
As a result, Hightower, age 18, and McGruder, age 39, were arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where they were both charged with Felony Theft by Taking.
Sheriff’s Investigators are still looking for Brisco, age 34, who is wanted for questioning in these incidents and an additional unrelated warrant.
Hightower and McGruder have since been released from the Troup County Jail on bond.
If anyone has any further information on these incidents or the whereabouts of Mario Brisco, please contact Investigators at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at Troup County Sheriff’s Office at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
