LaGrange Police are investigating an incident where gunshots were fired outside the hospital late Thursday night.
Thursday night about 9:02 p.m., officers with the La-Grange Police Department responded to the West Georgia Medical Center on Vernon Road in reference to gunshots heard in the area.
Officers arrived and spoke with hospital security, who advised that two gunshots were heard coming from the front parking lot near the hospital.
The security officer advised that the gunshots may have been from a subject who had been upset over an earlier death in the family. The security officer advised that the family had previously been loud and negative in the hospital.
Officers searched the parking lot for spent ammunition and to check for any possible damage to vehicles in the parking lot. No witnesses were located, but several people reported hearing gunshots nearby.
Using security video, officers were able to locate two Luger 9 mm shell casings on the ground in the back of the parking lot. Police reviewed the video with and could not determine who shot the pistol and exactly where the shots were fired.
Police could not identify the suspect’s gender or even say for sure that they fired the shots. The only thing they could tell from the video was that someone with a red hooded sweatshirt may have fired the pistol behind a vehicle in the back row of the parking lot.
This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
