Isaiah 43:2 (KJV): “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
As believers and followers of Christ, obeying the Lord and following His plans, we are promised many things. Walking a path of righteousness is not an easy lifestyle. We are faced with tainted pasts, bad decisions, weaknesses, and mistakes in addition to an adversary that is patient and waits for any chance to kill still and destroy (John 10:10).
Each day, I am haunted by mistakes I’ve made in my past and Satan tries to call me those by name, but I am so thankful that I have learned I am not those things anymore. Once you ask forgiveness and repent, I trust the Word when it says I have been forgiven through Christ (Isaiah 1:18, Ephesians 1:7). So even though the fact is that I did those bad things, said those bad things, or even condoned those bad things, I have security in knowing that when the adversary comes that I am not alone.
There will be times when consequences of our actions come back to bite us in the tail, or the Spiritual warfare becomes overwhelming, we are not alone! We have a strong tower to guard us, a loving Father to be with us, and the Holy Spirit to guide us.
