There are many incredible organizations here in the LaGrange/Troup County Community. These are organizations that are dedicated to enriching the lives of the people who live here and providing us all with a sense of joy, engagement, and outreach involvement. One of those groups, the Krewe of Mask, recently hosted LaGrange’s first ever, and quite successful, family friendly Mardi Gras parade through downtown. The parade, accompanied by a stylish after party at Del’Avant, was big hit in the community. However, the Krewe has many more exciting events planned in the coming months.
This past Saturday, March 25, the Krewe of Mask held a recruitment luncheon at the VFW hall on W. Haralson Street. The Krewe served a free lunch to possible incoming members as well as current members. The lunch was an incredible ribs and BBQ chicken and shortly after the doors opened, people started pouring in. With lively decorations, great conversation, and even a slide show of pictures from this year’s parade, many new members were made Saturday and new families were welcomed into the fold. The group even had some discussion on possible themes for next year.
The Krewe of Mask will not be sitting idly by while parade. No, in fact they have another event coming up very soon. On Saturday, April 1st many members of the Krewe of Mask will be heading down to uptown Columbus for the annual Strut the Hooch parade all through Broadway. This is a parade that promotes silliness, joy, and all around craziness for the Columbus area. Members of our local Krewe of Mask will be heading that way with throw able beads and other knick knacks.
The Krewe of Mask here in LaGrange is a completely dedicated and involved group that seeks to grow its membership and be involved in the community on many different levels. They do not wait for one specific time of year; rather they go out and find ways to get involved. They are truly a great group
