LaGrange GA—The Hillside Art, Music & Food Festival takes place on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., in the artistic Hillside Neighborhood, LaGrange, Ga.
Over 40 vendors are participating in the festival including painters, potters, jewelers, woodworkers, stained glass crafters as well as farm and gardening vendors.
Music at the event includes a varied and appealing lineup: Cult Classic (Local Band – Alternative) 11:00AM 11:30AM, ConunDrum (drumming group) 11:45 AM – 12:15 PM, Bill Wooten and Burdette (Jazz) 12:30PM – 1:15PM, Jontavious Willis and Band (Blues) 1:30PM – 2:30PM, The Hillside Front Porch Collective (Roots music) 2:45PM – 3:30PM, Angela Hutchins (Alternative Rock) 3:45PM – 4:30PM Another Festival highlight is a pop up plaza for all to see and enjoy. The plaza is the project of Auburn University architecture and landscape design students. The plaza showcases creative ways public spaces like parking lots can be turned into parks that enhance social interaction. The students will be presenting their final design proposals and opening the park Wednesday, April 26th 6 PM to 8 PM.
The Alterna community of Hillside Neighborhood will host “Love Crosses Borders: Images from La Libertad to LaGrange,” an exhibit of photographs by Henry Jacobs highlighting the special ties between La-Grange and La Libertad, Guatemala. The photographs will be on view at Doc Spiers, a unique gathering place in Hillside and just across the street from the Festival.
Hillside Montessori will host their sixth annual Earth Day celebration during the festival where children can meet Smokey the Bear and see presentations by Wild Animal Safari of Pine Mountain, Ga., and Oxbow Meadows of Columbus, Ga.
The Kia DASH to Wellness 5k fun run will start and finish at the festival. The USTAF certified chipped run takes runners through the historic Hills and Dales Estate. Race start time is 9 a.m., Saturday, April 29 at 625 Jefferson Street, La-Grange.
Wellstar Medical Center of West Georgia and Emory Clark Holder Healthcare will also be onsite to provide wellness information for runners and spectators alike.
The Hillside Art, Music & Food Festival was created and continues to be led by residents of the Hillside community that are passionate about locally created art, food and music. All live music events for the festival are organized by Pure Life Studios, a vibrant live music venue located in the Hillside Neighborhood committed to the growth and success of local musical talent.
