THS Student Council Donates Books And Time To The Certified Literate Community Program

The Student Council at Troup County Comprehensive High School collected over 3200 books to donate to the Certified Literate Community Program. Student efforts were lead by their adviser, Christy Kelley. For the past several years the student council has made literacy a focal point for their service leadership projects.

The students have participated in several book drives, volunteered for Leggin’ It For Literacy, and installed Little Free Libraries in the community. Kelley believes that ‘Supporting literacy in Troup County is something that benefits everyone, from babies, to elementary schools, to the adults in the GED programs. Service projects are about building a better community for everyone, and improving literacy is a great way to do that.’

Executive Director of the CLCP, Debbie Burdette praises the students of THS for realizing the importance of having a literate community and being a part of the literacy solution for Troup County.
