Deputies Searching for Home Invasion Robbers

Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking to identify suspects who allegedly forced their way into a Whitesville Road home and robbed the resident.

On Wednesday, Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched a residence on Whitesville Road in reference to reports of a home invasion robbery. Investigators later learned from the victim that two unknown black males forced their way into the home and at least one of the suspects held a handgun to the head of a small child and demanded money from the victim. The victim then pleaded with the suspects that she did have the money they were demanding.

The two suspects then grabbed several items, ran outside the home, and got into a maroon vehicle. Before the car sped off, a subject from inside the home chased them down and threw an object at the car striking one of the car windows causing damage.

A witness on scene advised investigators that two other black males appeared to be inside the car as it fled the scene.

Investigators later determined that the victim had recently gone to check-cashing location in LaGrange to cash a check in an amount of several thousand dollars.

Several people witnessed the victim cash the large check and were aware that they had just received the large amount of cash. Investigators believe the suspects followed the victim from the check cashing location to their residence and later robbed them a short while afterwards.

Other than a few minor scrapes, no one was injuries in the incident.

Sheriff’s Investigators have released a security video screenshot of a man in the store where the check had been cashed. The subject is a person of interest from this incident and deputies are asking for help from the public in identifying the unknown male.
