West Point Police Investigating Late Night Shooting

Police are investigating an Aggravated Assault with a Firearm after a man was shot outside a local home in West Point.

Late Thursday night about 11:30 p.m., officers with the West Point Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the West Point Housing Authority.

Officers arrived on scene to find a male subject wound lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot in the 1100 block of Avenue L.

Police immediately began rendering emergency medical aid until West Point EMS/Fire arrived and transported the victim to the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center Emergency Room. Police say the victim was treated for a single gunshot wound, but his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The West Point Police Department Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation into this incident and later obtained warrants for the arrest of two males thought to be involved with the shooting.

Police have issued warrants for the arrest of Delani Scott, age 38, and Deonte Scott, age 22, on charges of Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

Both suspects are residents of West Point and should be considered armed and dangerous.

This incident is still under active investigation. Police are requesting assistance in this case by encouraging anyone who may have any information in reference to this incident to please come forward.
