Man and Young Son Robbed in Home Invasion

A local man and his young son were robbed at gunpoint in their own home during a frightening kickoff to Father’s Day weekend.

The whole incident went down Friday afternoon about 1:30 p.m. Officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the incident in the 1000 block of Second Avenue in reference to reports of a Home Invasion Robbery.

Officers arrived and spoke with the victim, who stated he and his 10-year-old son were inside the home when the robbery occurred.

According to the victim, an unknown black male entered the home and pointed a handgun at him and his son. The assailant then ordered the two to the floor and he began searching throughout the home, presumably looking for items to take.

The victim and his son ran from the residence to a safe location and contacted police as the home invader was walking through the home.

The armed assailant was described by the victim as light skinned black male, estimated between 25 and 30 years old. He was about 6 feet tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds. The subject was last seen with slight facial hair, wearing all black clothing.

Police searched the area but were ultimately unable to locate the suspect.

This incident is still under investigation by the La-Grange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
