LaGrange Police have arrested a 16-year-old teen for allegedly shooting a local man in the stomach and then firing more gunshots at him and others as they tried to help the victim flee the scene.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning shortly before 3:21 a.m., when officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 900 block of Whitesville Street in reference to reports of a person shot.
Officers arrived and learned that a male victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Police then learned the incident allegedly occurred at a separate location in the 800 block of South Ogletree Street, where a known 16-yearold juvenile male shot the victim.
Over the course of the investigation, officers also determined while the shooting victim was being transported from the crime scene, when the juvenile fired more gunshots at the fleeing vehicle, which contained the victim, another male, and a female.
The victims then fled to Whitesville Street, where they called 911.
Using witness statements, police were able to identify the undisclosed juvenile suspect and he was arrested for the incident.
The juvenile, age 16, was arrested and transported to a Youth Detention Center where he has held and charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18.
This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
