Police Warn: Trying to Buy Drugs Can Get You Robbed

LaGrange Police are once again investigating a robbery that appears to have been an illegal drug transaction gone wrong. Fortunately, the victim wasn’t hurt this time, but these incidents are all too common, so it’s only a matter of time before the incidents scale beyond robbery.

Early Saturday morning about 3:55 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 600 block of South Alford Street in reference to reports of an Armed Robbery.

Officer arrived and met with a 26-year-old male from Waco, GA, who advised he had just been robbed at gunpoint.

The supposed victim told police that he had been robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by a subject described as an unknown black male wearing all black clothing. The assailant reportedly brandished a handgun, demanding his money.

Police say that during the following investigation, officers determined that the alleged robbery occurred as part of an illegal drug transaction, though the details on how they determined this have not been released.

This incident is still under investigation by the La-Grange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
