Sunsets at Sweetland Presents Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Right here in the heart of downtown LaGrange lays an amazing treasure. The Sweetland Amphitheater has been host to many incredible events in its first two years and has completely transformed downtown LaGrange. From huge names likes Charlie Daniels and Willie Nelson, to local event such as the Battle of the Bands and incredible Jazz nights, the amphitheater has already made some wonderful memories for many in the community. One of the events that have become incredibly popular is the Sunsets at Sweetland hosted by LaGrange College where a movie is played for people and their families. This past Friday night, August 4th Sweetland was a magical place when they screened “Fantastic Beast and Where to Find them.”

The great lawn was full and all around families were laughing before the movie started. This is a continuation from many of last year’s Sunsets at Sweetland where LaGrange College hosts some of the newest and most entertaining movies that are free for the community to come and partake in. These special events are picnic friendly to all that attend and are truly a great benefit to LaGrange as a whole. This month’s selection for a film was truly a magical one as the newest film surrounding the Harry Potter universe was screened and everyone involved got a taste of this incredible franchise that continues to grow.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” takes viewers back to the twenties and into America where they follow Newt Scamander, a newcomer in the Harry Potter film franchise. Set decades before Harry, Ron, and Hermione had their adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Newt Scamander traveled to America and had his own magical adventures all across New York City. This film is set to be the first in a new franchise and direction for the Harry Potter world and one that will carry over with many sequels into the future.

Having these free events set at Sweetland Amphitheater is a great way to show support for the community and a way to offer incredible free family activities. The year at Sweetland is winding down with one major concert left, TajMo on Friday, September 29th and the Craft Beer and Music Festival on Saturday, October 21st. Even though the year might be winding down, Sweetland will be back and better than ever with its third year and many, many more incredible shows into the future
