LaGrange, Ga. August 18, 2017 – The LaGrange Housing Authority is pleased to announce the graduation of the Summer 2017 Leadership Academy participants.
The group of nine La-Grange Housing Authority residents participated in a 12-week training program covering topics like Job Readiness, Social Relationships, Effective Communications, Mental Health, Etiquette skills, Darkness to Light: Child Sexual Abuse Awareness, Basic Computer Literacy, CPR and First Aid, Spiritual Wellbeing, and Budgeting.
The Leadership Academy was developed as a way to prepare LHA residents to enter the workforce.
The 12-week session is composed of training’s that focus on skills that residents will need to gain employment to earn a living wage.
Some of the goals set by participants were to return to school to pursue a degree in the field of their choice, find gainful employment, and create a better lifestyle for their families.
The graduation ceremony was held Friday, August 11th at the Benjamin Harvey Hill Community Building.
