There are big things happening here in LaGrange and Troup County. Between the Sweetland Amphitheater, the upcoming Great Wolf Lodge, and the new Dunham’s Sports to name a few, LaGrange has truly been on the move in the past few months. One of the biggest new things coming to the town is the new Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Lafayette Square. This past Tuesday afternoon, August 22nd the Mayor and Council had the opportunity to tour the hotel that is nearing completion and expected to open before the end of the year.
The hotel has been a massive undertaking and is poised to be a huge amenity to the city. Each of the floors is comprised of 28 units except for the bottom floor which has six. It is sure to be a big hit and will house many people that come from all around to enjoy various events in the LaGrange/Troup County community.
The following is a comment from the City on the success of the tour and on how well the new hotel is poised to do in downtown: The LaGrange Mayor and City Council toured the progress at the downtown Courtyard by Marriott after their work session Tuesday. Linco Properties President and developer of the hotel Josh Chapman took the Mayor, City Council and staff on the tour.
“Building the hotel downtown gives us a chance to be a part of the downtown community,” he said.
The 90-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel will include two meeting rooms, a full service bar and restaurant called The Bistro that will be open for breakfast and dinner, and a Starbucks that will be open to the public 7 days a week.
The hotel will also include a putting green, splash pad, and 10-foot long fire pit for guests.
Council Member LeGree McCamey was on the tour and was impressed with the quality of the hotel.
“It was a great tour,” he said. “It’s going to be a great amenity to the city.”
The Courtyard by Marriott hotel in downtown LaGrange is expected to open in December 2017.
