LaGrange Police investigating a gun complaint ended up arresting five people for various offenses, including drug charges.
Early Sunday morning about 2:50 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department began checking the area of Fourth Avenue and Park Avenue due to a call about a large group of people at a party with a gun.
While checking the area, officers observed a white Toyota Solara convertible with the top down turning ontoPark Avenuefrom Fourth Avenue. Police then observed a male stand up in the rear of the moving vehicle. Moments later, officers heard several gunshots coming from the area where the white Toyota had been headed.
Police then attempted to catch up to the vehicle and performed a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Juniper Street.
Officers then began to remove the occupants from the vehicle, starting with the driver, Terryonia Stinson, who followed instruction and stepped out of the vehicle. While police were dealing with her, the rear middle seat passenger, Dashun Stinson, stood up and ignored orders from multiple officers to sit back down in the vehicle.
Police say that the passenger seated behind the driver, Braelen Thornton, was then told to step out of the vehicle with his hands up, but he also refused to comply.After officers gave multiple commands to step out of the vehicle, Thornton and D. Stinson, eventually stepped out of the vehicle. Thornton then attempted to walk away and D. Stinson sat down in the roadway, refusing to and refused to further comply.
The two were handcuffed and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle.
Officers then attempted to remove the right rear passenger, Quavieon Watkins, who also refused police orders and sat on the ground outside the vehicle. After multiple commands to stand up, officers finally got him to get up and he was taken into custody.
The front seat passenger, Tiffany Thompson, was then removed from the vehicle without incident.
The vehicle was then searched and officers found two handguns, a small bag of suspected marijuana, and a baggie containing 38 pills, believed to be Xanax.
As a result of the investigation, all five subjects were arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where they were booked into the jail on various charges.
Watkins, age 24, was charged with Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce, Obstruction of Officers, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Dashun Stinson, age 19, was charged with Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce, Obstruction of Officesr, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Thornton, age 20, was charged with Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce, Obstruction of Officers, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Terryonia Stinson, age 25, was charged with Possession of Marijuana Less than an Ounce, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Controlled S u b s ta n c e .
Thompson, age 24, was charged with Possession of Marijuana – Less than an Ounce, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
