An unidentified male and child were injured during an auto collision on Hogansville Road late Thursday evening.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Hogansville Road and Whitfield Road around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Georgia State Troopers are still investigating the accident, but it appears as if two Hondas, one black, one silver, collided in the intersection after the black vehicle out pulled in front of the silver vehicle.
According to the driver of the silver Honda, she and her child were traveling southbound on Hogansville Road when the driver of the black Honda pulled out in front of them from Whitfield Road.
The collision sent both vehicles careening into the northbound side ditch, near the railroad tracks, but the silver vehicle suffered the brunt of the accident.
The male driver of the black Honda had to be removed from the vehicle and was rushed to Columbus Medical Center for undetermined injuries.
A child seated in the rear of the silver Honda was also injured and was airlifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. The child’s mother, who had been driving the silver Honda did not appear to be injured. Troopers suspect that the child was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but the mother insisted otherwise.
Both vehicles suffered disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
This collision is still under review and charges, if any, will come at the conclusion of the investigation.
