There are special moments in the life of each and every community. These are moments that mark the coming of something new, something fresh and exciting that will breathe life into a downtown or a community at large. LaGrange has been experiencing a great deal of this rebirth in the past few years, with many new additions all across the town. One momentous happening occurred this past Friday morning, September 22nd when the newly constructed Wild Leap Brewery held a ribbon cutting, sponsored by the LaGrange/Troup County Chamber of Commerce, just one day ahead of their grand opening this past weekend.
Born from a PowerPoint and a fresh idea, Wild Leap has been a vision come to life right before the very eyes of its many investors and partners. After much planning and work, co founders Anthony Rodriguez and Rob Goldstein had a vision when they were searching for a community to embrace a craft beer festival. That started the journey for the first brewery to be born here in downtown LaGrange. After purchasing the old West Brook Tire Building at the end of Bull Street, the team began heavy reconstruction and crafting an incredible space for people to come and enjoy their beverages, hold events, and bring new life to the South end of downtown. That Friday morning, the full glory of the new facility was released as partners and guest packed into the new space to cut the ribbon.
One of the things that makes wild leap so special is all of the local partnerships that came together to make it a reality. That morning at the ribbon cutting, many of those partnerships were represented through various guest speakers. Mayor Jim Thornton of the City of LaGrange, Speer Burdette of the Callaway Foundation. Bobby Carmichael with the Downtown Development Authority, United States Congressman Drew Ferguson, and others had an opportunity to speak and wish this new business all of the greatest success. Rob, Anthony, and the Brew Master Chris Elliot were also there to thank everyone from investors to friends and partners that were on hand for that momentous occasion.
From the Bull Street realignment, the new District 4 Public Health Building, a proposed skate park, and now Wild Leap Brew Co., the South side of downtown LaGrange is experiencing new life, with foot traffic and sales expected to rise dramatically over the course of the next year. These businesses and their local partnerships keep the economy here in LaGrange steadily growing and Wild Leap will undoubtedly be one of the greatest success stories throughout the community for many, many years to come.
