LaGrange Police are investigating a house fire that occurred over the weekend as potential arson.
Sunday morning, Firefighters with the LaGrange Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 500 block of Horace King Street in reference to a structure fire. Firefighters responded and made quick work of extinguishing the fire in the vacant brick frame residence. Fire investigators later determined that origin point of the fire was toward the rear of the residence. Fire investigators believe the fire originated from a utility closet which was only accessible from the rear of the house.
While dealing with the incident, fire personnel determined that all of the utilities, including the gas, had been turned off at the residence house and the house was vacant.
Due to the house being vacant and the utilities not being active, fire investigators believe the fire was intentionally set, The LaGrange Fire Department estimated the damage caused by the fire to the home to be around $10,000.
LaGrange Police have taken over the investigation and are currently investigating it as a potential arson incident. No potential motives or suspects have been released at this time.
