LaGrange Police have arrested a local man as a result of a domestic complaint where he allegedly forcibly robbed a female on his own front porch.

Saturday afternoon about 3 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 600 block of Park Avenue in reference to domestic disturbance.

Officers arrived and met with the female complainant, who stated Terrance Tyshawn White had snatched her purse out of her arms while they were arguing on the front porch. She stated she had both arms around her purse and White forcibly pulled it out of her hands, breaking both straps on the purse. She stated she he then in the house and locked her and her son outside.

Police say that when they arrived the victim appeared to be exhausted from a physical altercation and was breathing hard as if she had been in a fight.

The victim refused any medical attention and stated she just wanted to get her purse back and head back to Alabama with her son.

Police then made contact with White at the front door and he quickly demanded to know if they had a warrant. Officers then explained the complaint and White agreed to speak with police outside the residence.

When confronted with the accusation that he snatched the female’s purse from her on his front porch White admitted her purse, money, phone and other belongings were inside the house.

Officers then escorted the female inside the house and secured her belongings.

White later confessed to grabbing the female’s purse from her by force and breaking the straps as they struggled on the front porch. He stated he wanted some money from her so he could go the store, but she refused because all of her money was set aside for bills.

As a result of the investigation, White was determined to be the primary aggressor in the domestic incident and he was placed under arrest.

White, age 27, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Robbery by Force – Family Violence Act.
