A male was airlifted for emergency treatment after two trucks collided on West Point Road Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred at the intersection of West Point Road and Fling Road around shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Georgia State Troopers are still investigating the accident, but witnesses say a Chevrolet K5 Blazer being driven by a 16-year-old male turned left in front of a Ford Ranger traveling in the opposite direction and the two trucks collided nearly headon.
The juvenile was traveling west on West Point Road and attempted to turn south onto Fling Road when it collided with the Ranger, which had just come around the curve traveling east on West Point Road towards La-Grange.
The collision sent both vehicles careening off the roadway near Dollar General, but the smaller vehicle suffered the brunt of the accident.
Paramedics from American Medical Response and Troup Fire quickly responded to the scene and the adult male traveling in the much smaller Ford Ranger was airlifted for significant injuries sustained during the collision.
The juvenile driving the Blazer was not seriously injured.
As of last report Troopers say the incident is still under investigation, but the juvenile will likely be charged with either Failure to Yield or a Lane Violation.
Both vehicles suffered disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
This collision is still under review and charges, if any, will come at the conclusion of the investigation.
