A four-year-old girl was injured Wednesday morning during an auto collision at the intersection of Ann Bailey Way and Scholar Lane near Franklin Forest Elementary School.
The accident occurred around 7:39 a.m. just before school Wednesday morning.
The young child was airlifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta with what police estimate were non-life-threatening injuries.
Other than the injured child, the accident was a quick investigation. The female driver of a Silverado pickup truck told police that a red Jeep Cherokee turned left in front of her as she was traveling west on Ann Bailey Way and she could not stop before the collision.
The truck then collided with the rear passenger side of the Jeep, which was occupied by a single adult male and the four-year-old girl.
Police say the child was seated in a properly used child safety seat, which likely prevented further injuries. The child had a bloody gash on her forehead that appeared to come from broken glass. The driver of the Jeep openly admitted that he pulled in front of the truck, so found to be at fault for the collusion. He was later cited for Failure to Yield. Neither driver showed any signs of impairment. Both vehicles suffered disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
