A LaGrange woman was killed Thursday morning after a single vehicle accident on Mountville-Hogansville Road.
Georgia State Patrol officials say the 64-year-old female victim was driving north on Mountville-Hogansville Road just north of Sims Road when her vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, fatally injuring her.
There were no witnesses to the accident, but crash investigators discovered evidence that the victim’s 2005 Ford Focus briefly ran off the right side of the roadway before crossing the center lane and exiting the left side. Troopers believe the female initially drifted off the roadway for an unknown reason and then overcorrected, causing the accident.
The driver was negotiating a sharp downhill left curve when she appears to have lost control of the vehicle.
The victim did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, though airbags did deploy.
There was no evidence of alcohol impairment, nor do State Troopers suspect it.
The investigation has been concluded, but Troopers are withholding the victim’s name until the family can be notified.
No further details are available at this time.
