From Hills and Dales to Lagrange’s Front Doors: Annual Boxwood Christmas Wreath Workshop

This past Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd, the usually spotless floors of Hills and Dales Estate were covered in fresh greenery and berries. In preparation for Christmas, Hills and Dales hosted its annual Christmas wreath workshops. This workshop usually stirs a great turn out, and this year was no different. Every spot at the decorating table was filled with women from all over the community, some making wreaths for the estate and some for their own homes.

Hills and Dales horticulturist, Charlotte Baker, led the Friday morning workshop. She showed the attendees how to wrap the greenery around the straw guides. While the ladies were hard at work on their wreaths, Charlotte hand tied beautiful bows in different Christmas colors and patterns to affix on the finished wreaths.

All the fresh greenery and berries used in the workshop were gathered from the estate so workshop- goers could bring a piece of Hills and Dales home with them. Hills and Dales decorates the entire estate every year with fresh greenery. They were still decorating on Friday in preparation for Sunday’s pass holder Christmas decoration preview event. The estate is now fully decorated for the holidays and open to the public for the regular admission price for the house and garden tour.
