A Christmas Tradition: The City of Valley’s Carousel Goes Round for its 60th Year

Almost every person who grew up in Troup County, Valley, Auburn, or Opelika remembers going to the merry-go-round. From childhood visits, riding the carousel as many times as your parents would let you, to Christmastime dates, to bringing your own children to share your experience, the City of Valley’s Carousel is a holiday tradition.

This tradition started 60 years ago. With the help of its sponsors, and volunteers from the City, the Carousel is always a big hit, and the fact that it’s a fun, free activity for all families to participate in is a huge bonus. The Merry- Go-Round has been a blessing to so many and every local’s photo album has pictures of their children on one of the beautiful horses. The rest of the holiday hours for the Merry-Go- Round are:

Wednesday, Dec 20 5pm- 9pm, Thursday, Dec 21 – Sat Dec 23 10am – 9pm, Sunday, Christmas Eve (last day for this year’s Merry Go Round) 1pm -5pm.
