LaGrange Police have arrested a pair of teens who were allegedly involved in a dispute that led to a man being shot early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning about 2 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 300 block of Harwell Avenue in reference to reports of a subject who had been shot. Officers arrived and detained three subjects on scene, but the victim had apparently been driven to the West Georgia Medical Center Emergency Room by a family member. The victim was later airlifted from the hospital to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for emergency treatment.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim had gotten into an argument at a residence on Harwell Avenue. The argument escalated to the point that two subjects pulled handguns and one of the suspects shot the victim in the chest.
One adult, Michael Joseph Moat Jr., and an undisclosed juvenile were later arrested and charged with the incident. The third suspect, another juvenile, was detained, but the minor was released with no charges.
As a result, Moat, age 18, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Gun and Possession of a Firearm During theCommissionofaCrime.
The juvenile was charged with Tampering with Evidence and Possession of a Firearm by a Person under 18.
Police say the victim is currently in stable condition.
This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
