With 2018 here, many in the church community started the New Year off the right way. This past Sunday night, December 31st, many members of different churches gathered at Oakside Baptist Church for a New Year’s Eve service, a new tradition that the church has begun. That night was to be full of sermons, music, and fellowship amongst many different people. The service was not just for Oakside members, but many different members of other churches as the night was about unity and growth.
This second annual service hosted a number of different pastors and community leaders in order to spread the word of God into 2018. There were several participating churches and pastors including Pastor Cade Farris from First Baptist Church on the Square, Pastor Doug Bingham from Unity Baptist, Dr. Dennis Farr from Freedom Baptist, Dr. Paul Botica from Cedarcrest Community, Pastor Tim Tidwell from Oakside Baptist, Pastor Kenneth Cole from Dunson Baptist, and Brother Aaron McCollough from the Troup Baptist Association. Each got the opportunity to come take the stage and speak to the crowd on what they should be focusing on in their lives and in the New Year. There were also eight minute challenges with special music in between.
This is a wonderful event that brought bring a lot of our community’s churches together under one roof to socialize, hear the message of the Lord, and bring in 2018 in a spirit of fellowship. This second annual event was a success that will continue to grow each year and bring more importance to what people should be focusing their lives on in the New Year, that being the love of Christ.
