Twin Cedars Gears Up for Behind the Mask Event

As the winter storms whip up into a frenzy outside, many of us huddled together under the covers surrounded by family and friends to enjoy the peaceful snow day. While many of us have that luxury, some do not. There are people all across the nation and in our own community that are going through rough times, even children. Even though this is a problem that we struggle to overcome, there are programs in the community that strive to care for children and young adults in a variety of different ways. One of those organizations is Twin Cedars and as they prepare for their biggest fundraiser of the year, it is important to understand just exactly what this group is all about and what they are trying to do for the youth in LaGrange and Troup County.

Twin Cedars, based in LaGrange, Macon, Columbus, and East Alabama, is a group that works in youth and family services. They bring together members of a community with their program to provide a large range of services that many young ones are in desperate need of. Some of their programs include child advocacy programs, working with CASA, foster care programs, prevention programs, and many others all aimed at helping young people and their families become healthy and active. Every day they strive to achieve their mission statement hildren, youth, and families to achieve optimum potential.” This February, their biggest fundraising campaign is launching once again to help bring smiles to many faces in the community.

Each year, a royal court is gathered for Behind the Mask, Twin Cedars’ Mardi Gras themed fundraiser event that raises thousands of dollars for their different programs. There are men and women from around the community that run for King and Queen, with the winner being the individual that raises the most money for charity. The King and Queen are then celebrated at their Behind the Mask party/gala for a night of food, drink, dancing, and celebration. It is a big happening for the community each year and raises large sums to benefit the youth. A list of all of this year’s men and women running for the royal court can be found on the Twin Cedars website where you can make donations to the candidate of your choosing.

The Behind the Mask event will once again be held at Del’Avant in beautiful downtown LaGrange on Saturday, January 27th, from 7 to 11 pm. Ticketing information can be found on the Twin Cedars website.
