Two men were shot during separate incidents in LaGrange on Monday night. One man was killed after numerous shots were fired into a home and another male was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound in another residence across town.
The deceased male was killed after a bevy of bullets were fired into a house on the 100 block of Lady Elaine Street.
Police say Antonio M. Harris, age 31, was killed when unknown suspect(s) fired gunshots into the residence.
Police were called to the scene around 9 p.m., but officers believe the report may have been delayed because another subject was called to the location first and only then did they contact police.
Investigators believe the shooting was either a drive-by shooting or the suspect(s) stopped and got out of a vehicle before firing. Witnesses say a vehicle was seen fleeing the area after the incident. The gunshots appeared to have come from the roadway.
Due to the number of shots fired, police suspect that more than one shooter may have been involved. Evidence that more than 20 gunshots had been fired was found at the scene.
One of the gunshots struck Harris in the chest during the incident. He was later pronounced dead on the scene.
Along with Harris, two adult females and two children were inside the home at the time of the incident. No other injuries were reported.
Police have not named any suspects at this time, although one female was arrested during the investigation.
The female, Shaquavia Sequoea Laportia Woodyard, was arrested after she allegedly refused to allow officers take her cell phone into evidence during the investigation.
Woodyard, age 26, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where she was booked into jail charged with False Statements and Writings and Obstruction of Officers.
Woodyard was later released from Troup County Jail on $3,000 bond.
Another male was shot about an hour earlier in a separate incident across town the same night.
The victim, Deontre Johnson, age 27, was found lying on the floor bleeding with a gunshot wound around 8 p.m. Monday night.
Johnson was airlifted to the trauma center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for emergency treatment. Police say Johnson is now in stable condition.
Police reports indicate Johnson was found lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his chest by the homeowner, who called 911.
There was no evidence of forced entry at the incident location, a home in the 1200 block of Juniper Street.
At this time, police do not know if the two shootings were related and no suspects have been named in either incident.
