The Grangers are back in the swing of things with their first win of the season this past Wednesday night, February 21st, against a visiting Columbus Blue Devils team. Baseball at LHS has long been a storied tradition, bringing out many greats over the years that have gone on to play at higher levels. The team was off to a rough start, losing their first four games of this new season. After their big win this week, the Grangers have new blood that can hopefully carry into the rest of their season.
The game was won by a score of 1-0, with freshman Will Alford scoring a home run in the fifth inning to give the Grangers the lead and the win. The pitching for the team that night was strong as well, with Josh Morgan on the mound. Morgan had very few hits. In fact, there were only a handful of Columbus players to even get a hit. This was a signature win for the Grangers who face a very rough schedule throughout the rest of their season.
After falling to other teams such as Newnan and Cairo, the win against Columbus will hopefully breathe new life into the LaGrange Baseball program. Their next game will be on the road against Lambert out of Suwanee, Georgia. That game will take place this upcoming Saturday morning. On Tuesday, March 27th, the Grangers will take on Callaway High School.
