A local man is behind bars for allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend’s mother during a heated argument.
Late Tuesday night about 11:53 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 100 block of Fannin Street in reference to a person with a gun.
Officers arrived and made contact with Dmetrius Brandon Lemon, who advised that he had a gun, but had placed it in a mailbox to avoid any issues with the police. Police then checked the mailbox and found a 9mm handgun loaded with 12 rounds of hollow point ammunition.
Police spoke with Lemon, who stated he had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend’s mother and he was leaving the residence to return home to Valley, Alabama.
Lemon denied pointing the gun at anyone and provided police with a valid concealed carry permit from Alabama.
Police then spoke with the mother and complainant, who stated she had gotten into an argument with her daughter about her boyfriend, Lemon. She stated thatLemon and her daughter began yelling at her, so she asked them to leave.
The mother stated Lemon then exited the residence, but continued the argument from the front yard. She stated Lemon then pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at her saying he would shoot her if she were not his girlfriend’s mother. She then went back inside and called 911.
Multiple additional witnesses later independently stated that Lemon had brandished the handgun and pointed it at the female.
As a result, Lemon, age 22, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Pointing a Firearm at Another.
