Card Fraud Suspect Found with Meth

LaGrange Police have added another pair of charges to a suspect who was wanted for multiple instances of Financial Card Fraud after she was caught with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Saturday afternoon about 12:30 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 300 block of Cherry Street in reference to a wanted subject.

Police arrived and walked to the back of the residence, where officers spotted the wanted suspect, Mary Daugherty, sitting on the bed.

Daugherty’s identity was then confirmed and officers asked her to step outside due to warrants for her arrest. Daugherty then willingly exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

After Daugherty was searched and detained in handcuffs, police asked her if she had anything illegal in her possession and she admitted she had some drugs.

Daugherty told police that she probably had a straw in her purse that she uses to snort “ice.”

Officers then searched Daugherty’s purse and found a multicolored straw that contained a white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine. There was also a green bottle cap that contained a white crystallized substance suspected to be methamphetamine inside the purse.

The white substances in the straw and bottle cap were later analyzed and they tested positive for methamphetamine.

As a result, Daugherty, age 40, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where she was booked into the jail charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Drug Related Object, and warrants for three counts of Financial Card Fraud.

Daugherty is currently being held at the Troup County Jail on $12,000 bond.
