West Georgia Technical College Bus Crash Injures 13 Students, Driver Arrested

13 West Georgia Technical College students were en route to Maryland for a basketball championship game when the driver overturned their bus in Pulaski County, Virginia. All students aboard the bus sustained injuries, though luckily none were life-threatening. According to Virginia State Patrol, the bus clipped an 18-wheeler, ran off the road, overcorrecting and running off the road again before flipping upside down.

The bus driver was 59year-old Willie Frank Davis of Carrollton, GA. He was arrested and charged with a DUI-D (driving under the influence of drugs) and possession of marijuana.

Davis was admitted to New River Valley Regional Jail, and is currently out on bond.

As for the basketball team, they were all taken to the hospital and had to withdraw from the tournament. According to Ben Chambers, West Georgia Technical College’s spokesman, the students that required follow up care for their injuries have been connected with local doctors.
