The LaGrange High boys and girls tennis teams returned to their home court Tuesday in a dominant performance against Central Carrollton. The Grangers powered their way to an undefeated evening with both teams scoring a perfect 5-0. Sandwiched between two of LaGrange’s most important tournaments of the year, Tuesday’s game failed to faze the battle-tested Grangers. Losing only one out of twentyone games over ten sets, the boys and girls tennis teams combined for a nearly-perfect evening.
Wone Mi Oh (2-6, 6-1, 75), Annie Pauley (6-0, 6-1), and Louise Dodson (6-1, 60) represented the Lady Grangers in singles. The winning doubles teams included Abbi Lynn Lanier and Lizzie Wilkerson (6-3, 6-1) as well as Youngju Cho and Ella Eiland (6-3, 6-2). The Lady Grangers now stand at 6-3 overall on the season.
The boys team gave an equally impressive performance. Jackson Kuerzi (6-0, 6-0), Pierce Skinner (6-1, 6-2), and Youngha Cho (75, 6-4) dominated in singles for the Grangers. Jinseong Jun and Baker Skinner (63, 6-3) played doubles along with James Lee and Yongjin Shin (6-0, 6-0). Now at 7-2 overall for the season, the boys team stands among the finest in the county.
LaGrange hopes to replicate their performance in the upcoming LaGrange Invitational this Friday, March 10th. Started by LaGrange head coach Kenny Moore twenty-seven years ago, this two-day tournament features thirty-two schools and sixty-four teams from across Georgia, making it one of the largest highschool tennis tournaments in the state. The tournament will be held at multiple sites and will feature five divisions each for both the girls and boys teams. La-Grange boys and girls tennis will be competing in Division II of the tournament at both Granger Park and LaGrange College.
