The LaGrange High girls and boys track teams took to state last weekend and had multiple top-ten finishes while breaking school records.
Troup County News previously interviewed the eager young girls track squad ahead of their state appearance. The team was excited about a chance to compete at the state level after making it past sectionals.
Annaya Chelcy, Jada Grant, Zakeria Staples, and Tay Tay Manley all made it to the Saturday finals to compete in the topeight for state in class 4A.
Renaya Edmondson placed 7th in the state for 4A in the Discus Throw and matched her PR for the season by throwing 109’9.
Ty Whitehead placed 9th in the state for Discus Throw.
Zakeria Staples placed 11th in the 300m hurdles and 14th in the 100m hurdles.
Annaya Chelcy placed 11th in the 100m and 12th in the 200m.
Cameron Thomas placed 7th in the state in the Triple Jump Throw.
Jada Grant placed 8th in the state in Triple Jump and 12th on the Long Jump.
Quay Robinson placed 13th in the state in the 400m.
The 4×1 team took 7th in the state with a time of 49.00.
All competitors were in the 4A state competition.
The state run marks the end of a wonderful season by several talented Granger athletes. The Granger teams “earned their star” this weekend with record-breaking performances that landed them in the top 10 for state 4A.
With several members of the team returning next year, the track teams look to have another wonderful season. With this year in the books, the Grangers have time to celebrate their accomplishments before moving on for next year’s season.
