LaGrange Man Killed in Dirt Bike Crash

A young man died after running a stop sign and crashing a dirt bike into a truck over the weekend in LaGrange.

Sunday evening about 6:24 p.m., officers with La-Grange Police Department responded to the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Washington Street in reference to a motor vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a dirt bike.

Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the dirt bike, 23-year-old Brandon T. Sattterwhite, of LaGrange, was headed southbound on Washington Street on a 2000 XR100R Honda dirt bike.

When Satterwhite approached the intersection of Washington Street and Forrest Avenue, he failed to stop for the stop sign and collided with a white GMC Sierra being driven by a 43year-old female from La-Grange.

Paramedics responded to the wreck and transported Satterwhite to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, but he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

No injuries to the driver of the truck were reported. Police note that riding dirt bikes on city streets is not only incredibly dangerous, it’s also illegal. There was a juvenile killed while riding one of the bikes on Fourth Street in LaGrange in 2015.
