Police Investigating Late-Night Assault

LaGrange Police are investigating an incident were a young female was reportedly beaten up by a gang of women overnight Friday.

Early Saturday morning about 1:03 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department initially responded to the Cameron Crossing Apartments on Meadow Terrace in reference to gunshots heard in the area.

Officers arrived and met with two females, who reported that they witnessed a group of girls in their late teens to early twenties ganging up on a single girl.

The witnesses stated they intervened and pried the group off of the victim, but she then ran away, and they didn’t know her name or whereabouts.

The witnesses told police that the victim fled after two unknown males drove up in a van and further instigated the fight. The witnesses stated they then began calling police, and all of the offending parties jumped into vehicles. The males then reportedly fired approximately two gunshots into the air while leaving the scene.

The suspects involved reportedly fled the scene in a white van, a blue Honda coup, and a red Chevrolet Cobalt.

The witnesses told police that they believe the victim was beaten up pretty bad.

The complainants stated the gunshots sounded like they came from .22 caliber firearms, but police were unable to locate any shell casings.
