LaGrange Police have arrested two men on numerous charges as a result of a late-night Entering Auto investigation.
Devin Morris and Preston Jones were arrested overnight Monday after they are caught allegedly trying to break into vehicles at a local apartment complex.
Early Tuesday morning about 1 a.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the area of SunRidge Apartments in reference to suspicious subjects loitering in the parking lot.
Officers arrived to find Morris and Jones in the parking lot of SunRidge Apartments pulling on multiple car door handles in an obvious attempt to enter the vehicles to steal property. Police were able to locate and capture the suspects near the scene and they were placed under arrest.
As a result, Jones, age 20, and Morris, age 19, were arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where they were booked into the jail charged with 10 counts of Criminal Attempted Entering Auto.
The LaGrange Police Department warns citizens to always lock your vehicle doors and avoid leaving valuables in your car. If valuables must be left in your vehicle, keep them out of sight, or even better, secure them in your trunk if possible. Never leave items of value in an unsecured vehicle.
