Mrs. Linda Joyce Pressley
Mrs. Linda Joyce Pressley, age 51, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, at her home. Born April 29, 1964, Mrs. Pressley was a lifelong resident of LaGrange and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She had been employed as a quality control inspector. Survivors include her husband, David Pressley of LaGrange; daughter, Margaret Christine Smith and her husband William Wesley Smith of LaGrange; son, William David Pressley, Jr. and his wife Nicole Lee Pressley of Carrollton; her mother, Martha Levens of LaGrange; sister, Diane Hamlin of Resaca; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Levens. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. T’Quarius “TK” Holloway
Mr. T’Quarius “TK” Holloway, of LaGrange, GA, expired Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Mr. Hollway attended First Coast High School, Jacksonville, FL and Troup County Comprehensive High School, LaGrange, GA. He was currently employed as a temp worker at Glovis. Mr. Holloway is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Arnold Lee Holloway and Michael Harris, special cousin, Satunja Johnson and two special friends, Dejarius Hardnett and Arzjahwun A”AJ” McGualley. He leaves to cherish his memories is by his son, T’Quarius “Taylin Holloway Jr., LaGrange, GA; his mother, Tisha Holloway, LaGrange, GA; his father, Tiombe Harris, Lanett, AL; sisters, T’Knequa Holloway, T’airrieontae Holloway, T’onknequa Holloway, LaGrange, GA Sanbracia Johnson, Lanett, AL, Nekyla Harris and Nekeiya Harris, Whitesville, GA; brothers Jaquante Holloway, E’nico Holloway, LaGrange, GA, Jaquaruis Moore, Gulfport, MS, Tikembe Ferrell, Kayden Goss, Lanett, AL and Tiombe Harris, Jr., Whitesville, GA; maternal grandmother, Shirley Holloway, Jacksonville, FL paternal grandmother, Michele (Jimmy) Johnson, Lanett, AL, aunt/mother, Lawanda Holloway, Gulfport, MS; uncles, Marcus Holloway, Jacksonville, FL, Jarvis Holloway, Alexander, VA; Sakoni Harris and Ian Johnson, Atlanta, GA; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral service for Mr. T’Quarius “TK” Holloway was held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, West Point, GA. Ministers: Dr. Rev. Willie T. Edmondson, Minister Gwenorris Booker and Minister William Fanning, Officiated. The remains lied in state at the church on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment was held immediately followed by the service in the Marseilles Cemetery.

George “Bud” Anthony Yates
George “Bud” Anthony Yates, age 72, of Five Points, AL passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 in LaGrange, GA. “Bud”, as he was affectionately known, was born November 12, 1943 in LaGrange, GA to the late George McKinley Yates and Mildred E. Tucker Yates. He was a member of Callaway Baptist Church and retired from the City of LaGrange after 19 years of service. During his tenure, he served as Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police. Mr. Yates was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association, the Georgia Chief of Police Association and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Association.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Carrol Smith Yates; son, Anthony Shannon (Ginger) Yates; daughter, Erin Ashley Yates; grandsons, Kyle Yates, Jake Yates, Dylan Yates; step grandson, Dustin Cofield; sister, Teresa Eudonis (Thomas) Matheny; sister-in-law, Susan (Tim) Williams; brothers-in-law, James Smith and Randy (Yvonne) Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Gathering of Family and Friends was held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Callaway Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Thompson and Pastor Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery.

George H. Carpenter
George H. Carpenter, age 95, previously of Florida, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Florence Hand Home. He was born July 13, 1920 in Constantia, NY, to the late Carl Philo and Helen Carpenter. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith L. Carpenter and his second wife, Erna E. Carpenter. George worked as a hospital orderly making $17 per week until he joined the United States Army on September 8, 1942. He was assigned as a Medical Technician with Squadron E, 1383 Airbase Unit stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland. George flew from Labador to Dow Field, Bangor, Maine, transporting wounded servicemen. He met and married Edith L. Hurlbut in 1946. George was discharged on March 1, 1947, at Westover, Massachusetts as a temporary Staff Sergeant. He worked as a paper roller with Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket, Maine, until November 13, 1951, when he was recalled to active duty in the Maine Military District transferring to Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. He served in 8th Army in Korea with the 11th Evacuation Hospital. In 1954, he returned to Letterman Army Hospital, in 1955 he reported to Fort Devens with the 4th Field Hospital where he reenlisted as a Staff Sergeant. While stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, he completed his GED for high school. He was stationed at Ft Sill, Oklahoma, Walter Reed Army Hospital, cancer ward and Presidential Ward also in Germany and another posting to Korea. In 1967 he was transferred to the 10th Evacuation Hospital as a Master Sergeant at Fort Mead, Maryland. George served with Army of Vietnam, 7th Medical Battalion in Vietnam from February 20, 1968, to February 20, 1969, and was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal. Returning to the states he joined the 10th Evacuation Hospital at Ft Meed, Maryland, where he was promoted to First Sergeant. George retired from the 44th Medical Brigade on February 3, 1973. On August 22, 1974, he married Erna E. Wade. George’s military decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal W/silver clasp-3 loops, American Campaign Medal, European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, National Defense Medal w/ oak leaf cluster, Korean Service Medal w/ four bronze stars, Armed Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/one bronze star, United Nations Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 device Republic of Korea War Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Korean Republic Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. George is survived by his son, George (Linda) Carpenter and his daughter, Brenda (Harry) Vandenbos. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Serenity (Matthew) Graham, Chelsea (Casey) Colclough, and Diane (Jay) Mullaney, great grandchildren, Gracie Graham, Walker Graham, Piper Graham and Brynley Colclough, his step-children, Fred (Martha) Wade, Billy Wade and Patricia (Wyatt) Jennings and step-grandchildren, Christina Jennings and Christopher Wade. Visitation was held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary LaGrange Chapel from 3:00-4:00pm Tuesday, March 15, 2016. The Service followed at 4:00pm. Reverend Greg Brown officiated. Jerry E. Evans
Mr. Jerry E. Evans, age 75, of LaGrange, GA passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 celebrating his 75th birthday party with family. Mr. Evans was born March 13, 1941 in LaGrange, son of the late Marshall E. Evans and Doris G. Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran during which time he served in Germany and Korea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall E. Evans, Jr. Survivors include his sister, Carol Evans (John) Link; nephew, J. Banks (Tracy) Link of Nashville, TN; niece, Evans Link (Edwin) Eiler of LaGrange; three great nieces; one great nephew; sister-in-law, Patricia Evans Walker; and very special friend, and many cousins and loved ones. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Shadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Dan Akins officiating.
