Chad D. Spradlin

Chad Douglas Spradlin, age 32, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, March 26,  2016 at West Georgia Medical Center. Chad was born April 29, 1983 in LaGrange and was a lifelong resident of the Hogansville area.  He was employed as an auto mechanic and attended Hogansville Church of God. Survivors include his fiancée, Nikita Manley of Franklin; daughters, Brittany Ellington and Brayleigh Spradlin; son, William Spradlin; mother and step-father, Debbie and Robert Elzey of LaGrange; father, Doug Spradlin of Panama City Beach, FL; sister and brother in-law, Andrea and Jamie Stitcher of Franklin; best friend who he considered a brother, Jim Walker; grandmother, Eunice Spradlin of Hogansville; grandfather, William Yarbrough of Hogansville; and nieces and a nephew, Kerigan, Kyla, Bentlee and Cole. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00  p.m., Wednesday, March 30, at the Hogansville Church of God.  The Reverend Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Megan Rose Carroll

Megan Rose Carroll, age 16, of Hamilton, GA died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus. A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Ronald Madden celebrating. Megan was born October 30, 1999 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Richard Gerard Carroll and Laurie Kunkel Carroll. After the death of both of her parents, Megan and her sister, Bonnie, moved to Hamilton in July of 2013 to live with their aunt and uncle, Virginia and David Mann. Megan was a sophomore at Harris County High School where she was a member of the newly established Video Game and Design Club as well as a member of the Technology Student Association. She was an honor student and excelled in all of her AP courses. Megan was a talented writer and was invited to and planned to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University in Washington, DC this Summer. Megan was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Pine Mountain. In addition to her parents, Megan was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Carroll and an aunt, Susan Carroll. Survivors include her sister, Bonnie Carroll of Hamilton; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Carol Carroll of Granby, CT; her maternal grandparents, Walter and Patricia Kunkel of Miami, FL; Aunts and uncles, Virginia and David Mann of Hamilton, Patricia Carroll of Quincy, MA, Keith Kunkel of Miami, FL; two cousins, Sean and Shannon Kunkel of Miami; and many second cousins and other relatives. Mr. Clarence Don Helton

Mr. Clarence Don Helton, age 64, of LaGrange, passed away on March 25, 2016 at the West Georgia Health.  Mr. Helton was born on July 20, 1951 in LaGrange to the late Clarence Helton and Helen Christine Brown Helton. He worked at Duracell as a Team Leader. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.higginslagrangechapel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Joyce Sandra Bradley Powell

Mrs. Joyce Sandra Bradley Powell, age 65, passed away on March 25, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Powell was born on August 31, 1950 in LaGrange to the late Sanford Bradley and Maudie Steele Bradley. She worked for many years at Milliken as a Lab Technician. Survivors include her daughter, Janet M. Jones and her husband Nicholas of LaGrange; sisters, Sue Harcrow and her husband Orman and Catherine Pearson, all of Hogansville; grandchildren, Ashton Bradlie Georgia Jones and Grant Derek Randall Jones; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Graveside services were held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Restlawn Memory Gardens. Kenneth Ryan Null

Mr. Kenneth Ryan Null, age 36, of Hogansville, passed away on March 25, 2016 in Greenville, South Carolina. Mr. Null was born on March 10, 1980 in LaGrange to James Kenneth Null and Becky Susan Osborn Lopresti. His father and mother survive him. He worked for North Ridge Roofing as a Salesman.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Jace Ryan Null; daughter, Jasmine Lee Bryant; brother, Troy Null and his wife Shannon; sisters, Shannon Hobbs and Sara Lavender; mother of his children, Jenny Binion; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Rev. Jimmy McMillian and Rev. Robert Longshore officiating.  Monroe Hilt Worley

Mr. Monroe Hilt Worley, age 71, of LaGrange, passed away on March 28, 2016 at the West Georgia Health. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Callaway Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Restlawn Memory Gardens. Family received friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Worley proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne. He was an Electrician for Hughes Electric, now Raytheon, a member of Callaway Baptist Church and greatly loved and cared for his family. He was born on January 15, 1945 to the late Cecil Worley and Evie Shaddix Worley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Gensie Lou “Gent” Thomas

Mrs. Gensie Lou “Gent” Thomas, of Lanett, AL expired Saturday, March 19, 2106 at EAMC-Lanier Nursing Home, Valley, AL. Mrs. Gensie Lou Thomas, the daughter of the late Aubrey Presley and  Mollie Morgan was born June 30, 1914 in LaFayette, Chambers  County, AL. On Saturday, March 19, 2016, God called her home and  her crown was waiting with him saying “Well done good and faithful  servant.” “Mrs. Gent” as she was affectionally known by most, at an early age accepted Christ as her Lord and savior and united with the Antioch  Baptist Church, LaFayette, AL. After her moving to Lanett, AL she united with the Evening Spring Baptist Church, where she was one of its founders. “Mrs. Gent” served faithfully on the Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and was a devoted member of the missionary  society. Gensie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Willie Frank Thomas and into this union seven children were born. “Mrs. Gent” was employed with Springwood School for several years. She later retired from the Lanett Senior Center, Lanett, AL. She loved grooming her flowers and stayed busy working in her small garden. Her flowers and garden was her pride of joy. She was known throughout the Valley for great cooking and especially her homemade Caramel and Chocolate Cakes. Gensie was very proud of her age and would tell everyone the date and year she was born. She would often say “I am 99 trying to make it to 100.” She was truly blessed to have lived on this Godly earth for 101 years. On May 4, 2014, the late Mayor Oscar Crawley presented Mrs. Thomas “A Proclamation to the City of Lanett, AL” at her Centennial Celebration. She was later presented a Key to the City of Lanett, AL by Mayor Kyle McCoy. She was preceded in death by her: husband, Willie Frank Thomas; son, Willie C. Thomas; daughter, Annie Lou Meadows; grandson, Harry C. Austin; great granddaughter, Brooke M. Jackson; great great granddaughter, Leslie Elise Bailey; one sister, Lillie Bell Allen; two brothers, Harry Calloway and Robert Presley. Gensie leaves to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Betty Ann (Rev. Walter) Walker, Wichita, KS, Lillie Mae Thomas (her caregiver), Lanett, AL, Liz Foster, Louisville, KY; two sons, Eddie B. (Dorothy) Thomas, Jacksonville, FL, Robert (Celia)Thomas, Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, she reared as her own, Nina(Marcus) Jackson, Clarksville,TN and Tammie (Rev. Darrell) Jordan, Lanett, AL; one sister,, Nellie Stephens, Atlanta, GA; 33 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 43 great great grandchildren, and four great great great grandchildren. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 420 North 12th Avenue, Lanett, AL 36863. Rev. Frederick James, Pastor, Rev. Elijah Jackson, Jr., Eulogist, Rev. Leonard Autry, Rev. George Rampey, Rev. John Flournoy, Jr., Rev. Jackie Banks, Assisting, officiated. The Interment was in Hill Crest Cemetery, Country Club Road, Lanett, AL
