Grace Irene Powell
Grace Irene Powell, age 92, of Lakeland, FL formerly of Woodbury, GA died Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Consulate Health Care at Lake Parker. Funeral services for Mrs. Powell was at 11:00 am Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester with burial in the Meriwether Memory Gardens. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Powell was born October 16, 1923 in the Raleigh Community the daughter of Ernest and Claudia Irene Smith Lanier. She worked in retail sales prior to her retirement having worked at the Shoe’s ForAll in Woodbury, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Powell. She is survived by her children Michael (Joyce) Powell; Deanna Harnage and Susan (Gene) Lord all of Lakeland, FL and Alan (Mary) Powell of Seabring, FL; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Earline Davis Jones
Earline Davis Jones, age 89, of Hamilton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at her residence.
A cryptside memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, at the Hamilton Cemetery Mausoleum. Mrs. Jones was born September 30, 1926 in Columbus, Ga., the daughter of Earl Davis and Isabell Hylier Davis. She was retired as a bookkeeper for the Harris County school system and was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie H. “Sam” Jones.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Pilkington and her husband Mitchell of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Christopher Scott Collins, and his wife Katie, Johnathan David Collins, and Jennifer Leah Alberti and her husband Mario all of Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Chase Collins and Ansley Claire Collins. Mrs. Faye W. Hollaway
Mrs. Faye W. Hollaway, age 76, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at West Georgia Health, LaGrange. She was born May 4, 1939 in LaGrange, the loving daughter of H.B. and Louise White. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Hollaway. Before Faye retired, she worked many years as a mender at Milliken Textile, LaGrange. Faye is survived by her husband; son, Ronald Hollaway; grandchildren, Shane Hollaway, Jeramie Hollaway, Christinia Knight and Lynn Thrailkill; great-grandchildren, Reif Hollaway, Denver Moon and Ashlynn Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Ken Hollaway. The family received friends Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange. A funeral service was held in Mrs. Hollaway’s memory at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Rev. Bryan Geter officiated. Interment followed the service in Meadoway Garden Cemetery, LaGrange. Mr. Glover Childs was born April 8, 1949 to the late, Mr. Steve Childs and Mrs. Lee Ella Magby Childs.
He was a member of Gathering Ministry. Glover attended Phillips High School where he served as President of the Student Council; he went on to attend West Georgia Tech where he received his Nursing Degree. He was employed by Handley Mills, West Georgia Medical Center, Rosser Nursing Home, Chattahoochee Hospice and Lanier Memorial Hospital where he worked from January 18, 1985 until his retirement on December 28, 2008. On Monday, April 25, 2016, Mr. Childs passed away at UAB Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Bobbie Lee Childs, Willie Frank Childs, Leon Childs, Steve Childs, Jr., and Melvin Childs. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Anne Childs; children, Theresa (Keith) Marable, Pamela Jackson, Cassandra (Duncan) Patterson, Glover (Shemeica) Childs, Jr., Anthony (Chelsea) Childs, Deidra Childs; step-children, Penny Dabney and Pepper (Ty) Hunter; grandchildren, Gabriel, Adrian, Jacob, Jaylon, and Jordan Marable; Brian, Tishanna, Tianna, Tanisha, Toryion, and Torianna Jackson; Diante and Dreion Patterson, JaDarius, JaQuavious, Jezsica Childs, Caleeya Childs, Daylin Copeland; step-grandchildren: Charamainge Garrison, Keyana and Emmanuell Dabney, Deshawn Hill; step great-grandchild: Sanni Sumbry; siblings, Virginia Childs Fanning, Lillie Childs (Reuben) Simpson and Louis Edward Childs; mother-in-law, Annie Rowland; sisters-in-law, Lula Mae Childs, Anna Childs, Beverly Childs, Priscilla Childs, Brenda Lawrence, Gail Griffin, Barbara Jackson, Kim Carter; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Sarah) Rowland, Jr. Alton (Viola) Rowland, Thomas (Lisa) Rowland, Terry (Adrienne) Rowland; his former wife, Gwen Childs; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday at 2:00 PM EST at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Roanoke (Welch) Alabama. Rev. Reuben Simpson and Rev. James Dunbar officiated. Burial followed at Friendship Baptist Church, Roanoke (Bacon Level) Alabama.

Mr. Wayne A. Knoch, age 63, of LaGrange, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life was at 3:00pm Friday, April 29, 2016 at Eastview Cemetery.

Agnes L. Batts
Agnes L. Batts, age 101, of LaGrange, GA peacefully passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Florence Hand Nursing Home. Mrs. Batts was born October 12, 1914 in Clay County, AL to the late Wyatt W. Mitchum and Emily Nichols Mitchum. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and had been a resident of Amberwoods for 23 years. Mrs. Batts began her continuous employment with Callaway Mills in January 1944, and was a member of the 25 Year Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. “Jack” Batts; three sisters, one brother, one granddaughter, and two stepsons. Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Jean and her husband, Jack D. Buttrum; grandson, Kevin and his wife, Gail Buttrum; granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Gary Lowery; six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A Graveside Service was held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Reverend Kevin Buttrum officiated. The family gathered at graveside from 10:30 AM service time.
