Clinton H. Garner

Mr. Clinton H. Garner, age 100, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mr. Garner was born May 10, 1916, in LaGrange, son of the late Ben Baker Garner and Hassie Bassett Garner. A lifelong resident of LaGrange, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War Two and retired as a department manager from Milliken and Company. Survivors include his wife, Betty Garner of LaGrange; and step-sons, Richard Gladney and Steve Gladney, both of Atlanta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lurline Garner. A family graveside service was conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 29, in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. Kenneth Hammett

Mr. James Kenneth Hammett, age 76, of Grantville, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his home. Mr. Hammett was born September 5, 1939, in Hamilton, son of the late Marion Euel Hammett and Doris Baxley Hammett. A veteran of eight years of service in the U. S. Air Force, he returned to Coweta County in 1965, was employed by Eastern Airlines for many years, and attended Hope Memorial Baptist Church in Sharpsburg where he had been active in building the church. Survivors include his wife, Janette Lord Hammett of Grantville; daughter, Debbie Hammett Guy and her husband, Bryant of Sharpsburg; son, David Michael Hammett and his wife, Brenda of DeBouq, CO; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Marian Dudash of Columbus; brothers, Phillip Hammett and his wife, Bonnie of Chattahoochee Hills, Jerry Hammett and Ronny Hammett, both of Sharpsburg; sisters in-law, Joyce Barber of Gay, Florence Smith and her husband, Bill of Hawthorne, FL, Ruby Winkles and her husband, Asbury of Hogansville, Ann Lord of Senoia; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Hammett. Dan Kimble

Mr. Daniel Shawn (Dan) Kimble, age 29, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, of injuries received in a traffic accident in Heard County. Dan was born December 16, 1986, in Newnan. He was a lifelong resident of Heard County, and was a 2005 graduate of Heard County High School where he was an outstanding athlete and excelled in several sports. He was also known as a very talented musician and enjoyed entertaining, regardless of the size of the audience. Dan was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church was employed as a lead man for Southern Janitorial of LaGrange. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Thomasa and Mike Hickey; father and step-mother, Donnie and Wendy Kimble; sisters, Anna Kimble and Katy Tucker and her husband, Tommy; step-sister and brother in-law, Bridgete and Michael Cook, all of Franklin; brothers and sisters in-law, Brandon and Vanja Lane of Charlotte, NC, Dustin and Leslie Lane of Franklin; step-brother, Jay Hickey of LaGrange; his grandmother, LouNell Kimble of Franklin; niece, Emma; nephews, Seth and Noah; uncles, Larry Kimble, Rodney Kimble, and Roger Williamson; and a dear friend, Brian Mashburn.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar Kimble, Dorothy Overby, and Charlie Williamson. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.  The Reverend Nat McKenzie will officiate and interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. George Hambrick

Mr. George A. Hambrick, age 72, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Hambrick was born March 18, 1944, in Atlanta, son of the late Henry and Mary Helen Vaughn Hambrick. A resident of LaGrange for the past 27 years, he was a retired construction worker and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shelby Hambrick of LaGrange; daughters and son in-law, Kathy and Steve Kirkland of Hogansville and Christie McClung, also of Hogansville; son and daughter in-law, Shane and Connie McClung of West Point; grandchildren, Leslie Moman, Mallory Blanks, Britt Moman, Kyle Kirkland, Ashley Clifton, Kayla O’Neal, and Wesley McClung; six great-grandchildren; and his former pastor and close friend, Rev. James Moon. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Jody Mitchell and the Reverend Orman Harcrow officiating. Brad Brown

Mr. Bradley Neal Brown, age 38, of Hogansville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at his home. Brad was born May 28, 1978, in Sylacauga, Alabama, son of the late Hillary Herbert Brown and Earline Bowen Brown. He was a lifelong resident of Hogansville and was a 1999 graduate of Callaway High School. Survivors include his sister, Susan Brown of Hogansville; brothers and sister in-law, Richard and Toni Brown of Hogansville and David Brown of Whitesburg; nieces and nephew, Richard Brown, Jr., Brandy Karmesic, and Christina Shelnutt; and great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, in the Chapel of Claude A. Rebecca Sommer Thor

Rebecca Sommer Thor, age 27, of West Springfield, MA died May 19, 2016 in Springfield, MA due to injuries from a traffic accident. Graveside services was held at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Meriwether Memory Gardens. Amy Green officiated. Ms. Thor was born July 21, 1988 in Newnan, GA the daughter of Reginald Bert Jarvis and Tabitha Lore Beaman. She worked in the restaurant industry around Newnan and LaGrange, GA. Rebecca was a free spirit never meeting strangers and she accepted everyone. Willie L. Moore

Willie L. Moore, age 84, of Warm Springs, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his home. Funeral services was held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester. Rev. Richard Nash officiated. Interment followed in Meriwether Memory Gardens. Mr. Moore was born May 28, 1931 in Troy, AL, the son of Lee and Carrie Letkins Moore. He had worked for many years at the former Little Swift Mill in Columbus and attended Cedar Rock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Curtis Moore and his longtime companion, Ms. Nila Chason. Judith Carol Davis Thornhill

Mrs. Judith Carol Davis Thornhill, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away on May 28, 2016 at the Hilton Head Hospital. Mrs. Thornhill was born on November 28, 1944 in LaGrange to the late James Gaston Davis and Joyce Terry Davis. She was a Floral Designer and worked for Branches Florist. Survivors include her husband, Arthur Nelson Thornhill; daughter, Catherine Thornhill Clamage and her husband Steve Clamage; brother, Michael Alan Davis; sisters, Janice Hankey and her husband Paul Hankey and Brenda Benefield and her husband Rev. Donnie Benefield; grandchildren, Celeste Clamage and Jack Clamage; extended family and friends. Mr. R.L. Hicks, age 86, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at his residence. R.L. was born in Cherokee, Alabama, the son of Oley Hicks and Pearl Bolt Hicks. He served his country in the United States Army and received the Purple Heart. Survivors include his Son, Teddy Lee (Susan Carr) Hicks; grandson, Michael Eugene Hicks; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Brandy and Benji Orozco; great-granddaughters, Brooke Hicks, Brittany Hicks, Bailee Hicks, Abigail Orozco and Mollie Orozco. R.L. was preceded in death by his loving wife Mildred Hicks; parents and two brothers.  The family will be receiving family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange. Sherri Ann (Green) Redd, age 69, of LaGrange passed peacefully from this life the on May 25 at WellStar Hospice LaGrange. Sherri Ann Redd, the daughter of the late Virginia Alberta Green (nee Lee) and Adam Darnell Green, was born in LaGrange. As per Sherri Ann’s request, a simple graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 11:00am in Southview Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Vincent Dominique officiating.
