Mr. James Richard Trammell, age 72, of Albany, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Mr. Trammell was born October 29, 1943, in Lancaster, SC, son of the late Charlie Trammell and Julia Estes Trammell. He was a draftsman for structural steel for over 42 years and retired in 2010 from Gerdau Ameristeel in Albany. He was Baptist by faith, was a resident of Albany for over 40 years, and formerly was very active in the Albany Corvette Club. Mr. Trammell was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes 52 years ago and had recently received an award from Eli Lilly and Co. for diligently managing his condition through the years. Survivors include his dear friend and companion of more than 25 years, Betsy Hill of Albany; daughter and son in-law, Jena and Charlie Shell of Auburn, AL; son and daughter in-law, Michael and Michelle Trammell of Albany; brother and sister in-law, Wayne and Sue Trammell of Moreland; and grandchildren, Chip Shell, Trammell Shell, and Julia Shell. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, at the graveside in the Luthersville Cemetery. Reverend Winston Skinner officiated. Mrs. Lisa Wilson Wingate, age 38, of LaGrange, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016, of injuries received in an automobile accident in Troup County. Mrs. Wingate was born May 27, 1978, in LaGrange and was a lifelong resident of Troup County. She earned an Associate degree from Columbus Technical College and was employed as a dental assistant at Love Dental Clinic at Fort Benning. Survivors include her husband, Michael Wingate; her daughter Michaela Wingate; and her mother, Marie Wilson, all of LaGrange; brothers, Jimmy Wilson of LaGrange, Tim Wilson of Newnan, James Brockway of Franklin, Brandon Hogan and Rusty Hogan, both of LaGrange; and her birth father, Seaborn Brockway and his wife Kathy of Luthersville. She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, James Boyd Wilson, and her sister, Wanda Hogan. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, in the Chapel of Claude A. Pearlie F. Simmons
Ms. Pearlie F. Simmons, age 87, of Hogansville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25, 2016 at the LaGrange Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Simmons was born on July 4, 1929 the daughter of Theodore Fowler, and Nena Fowler. Pearlie worked many years for Playtex garments. However, her true passion was her church and her family. Her hobby was arts and crafts. She enjoyed making quilts for her family, making clothes for her grandchildren and traveling with her husband, Walter L. Simmons as he tended to dealerships for Bill Heard Enterprises. Pearlie is survived by her loving family. Daughters; Barbara Simmons (Robert) Parker, Peggy Simmons; son: William A. (Gladys) Simmons; grandchildren: Robert Brewell (Kristy) Parker III of Pine Mountain, GA. John Mark (Jill) Parker of LaGrange, Stephanie Simmons (Ronny) Cole of Dallas, GA., Christy Chipman Coogle (Chris) of Columbus, GA., Heather Chipman (Bubba) Fowler of LaGrange, Jeff Chipman of Atlanta, Jeremy Huckaby and Sammy Huckaby; great-grandchildren; Robert Brewell Parker IV (Brew), Caroline Alyse Parker, Harrison Grace Parker, Olivia Nicole Parker, Bailey Marie Parker, Harley Elizabeth Parker, Alexis LeeAnn Parker, John Tuff Parker, Ivy Jones, Hunter Fowler, Houston Fowler, Hannah Fowler, Aaron Chipman, Logan Huckaby. Her brother, Melvin Fowler and numerous nieces and nephews. Pearlie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Walter Lee Simmons, her parents and her sisters. The family received friends from 10 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home. The service followed at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Leonard Hodge officiated. Denny Leon Sprayberry
Mr. Denny Leon Sprayberry, age 85, of LaGrange, passed away at the LaGrange Hospice on September 28, 2016. Mr. Sprayberry was born on November 27, 1930 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Etheridge James Sprayberry and Ruth Bowen Sprayberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Browning Sprayberry, and a daughter, Cynthia Smith. Survivors include his daughter, Debby Mallory; brothers, Hugh Orrin Sprayberry (Lynn), Rance Pelham Sprayberry (Dot); five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; step-son, Johnny Browning; extended family and a host of friends. Mr. Sprayberry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and served 26 years in the Georgia National Guard. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Shadowlawn Cemetery. Dorothy Eva “Tadpole” Yawn
Mrs. Dorothy Eva “Tadpole” Yawn, age 76, of LaGrange, gained her angels wings on Sunday, September 25, 2016, while she was surrounded by her family. Tadpole was a member of Central Baptist Church in Eastman, Georgia. Tadpole was the daughter of the late Mary and Marvin Maddox of Eastman. She is survived by her loving husband, Cecil Gene Yawn; two sons, Rusty (Judy) Yawn of LaGrange and Tracy (Amy) Yawn of Eastman; one sister, Maryann Jump of Eastman; three grandsons, Jason (Shonna) Yawn of LaGrange, Heath Yawn of Marietta, Georgia, Jordan Yawn of Eastman, Georgia and three great-grandsons, Kyle Bushey, Micheal Everett and Cody Yawn. Due to Tadpole’s battle with cancer her wishes was to donate her body to science when she passed away, in hopes that the use of research on her body could lead the fight to curing the deadly disease. Allen “Pete” Daniel, III, age 44, of LaGrange, GA passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016. Pete was born November 13, 1971 in LaGrange, GA, son of Allen Daniel, Jr. and Sue Fowler Daniel. He worked in construction most of his life during which time he worked for Daniel Construction Company. Survivors include his son, Henning Daniel; parents, Allen, Jr. and Sue Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Holeigh Daniel; sister and brother-in-law, Lee Ann and Steve Commerford; niece, Skylar Daniel; and nephew, Durham Daniel. A Celebration of Life memorial service was held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel. Dr. Lamar Hardwick officiated. The gathering of family and friends was immediately follow the memorial service.
