Ann Dedmon

Mrs. Ann McDowell Dedmon, age 64, of West Point, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Hospice LaGrange. Mrs. Dedmon was born July 10, 1952, in Manchester, daughter of the late Margaret Hunt McDowell Attaway and Ulyses Remberth McDowell. A resident of Troup County most of her life, she was a 1970 graduate of Hogansville High School and retired as office manager for Fluor Construction Company at Plant Wansley. She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle Church, where she had been active in God’s Helping Hand ministry. Survivors include her husband, Nolan Dedmon of West Point; daughter, Stephanie Gaddy of West Point; grandchildren, Trevor Gaddy and Trinity Gaddy; step-son, Dereck Dedmon of Atlanta; step-granddaugher, Krissa Dedmon; nephew, Christopher Stevens; aunt, Jewel Gaddy of Hogansville; uncle, Arnold Hunt and his wife Patricia of Franklin; and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles McDowell; sister, Kim Hall; and step-son, Trent Dedmon. The funeral service was conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, at the Baptist Tabernacle in LaGrange. The Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiated and interment was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The family received friends at the Baptist Tabernacle from 1 until 3 Tuesday afternoon. James Sidney Cole

James Sidney Cole, age 79, of Manchester, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Rev. Michael McFarlin officiated. Interment followed in the Manchester City Cemetery. Brian Gordy, Larry McDaniel, Joe Sitton, Milton Sims, Bruce Gordy and Jason Sims served as pallbearers. Mr. Cole was born April 13, 1937 in Manchester, the son of James Roy Cole and Ruby Daniel Cole. He worked for the GA-AL Coca Cola Bottling Co., Manchester until it closed and then retired from Durand Wayland, Inc. in LaGrange. After his retirement, he went back to work as a transport driver for CSX employees. He always enjoyed attending the “Breakfast Club” at McDonalds in Manchester and watching his grandson’s favorite cartoons with him. Mr. Cole was a member of Raleigh United Methodist Church and was the widower of Margaret O’Neal Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a daughter, Sheila Diane Cole. Survivors include his daughter, Sherrie Griffeth and her husband, Hugh; his grandson, Nathaniel Griffeth, all of Manchester; two sisters-in-law, Nan Sitton, Polly Sims and her husband, Milton, all of Greenville; several cousins, nieces and nephews and his faithful pet, Rugby. Tina Elaine Weaver

Tina Elaine Weaver, age 57, of Ellerslie, Georgia passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. Graveside Services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Ellerslie United Methodist Church Cemetery. Paul Dougan officiated. Tina was born May 22, 1959 in Los Angeles, California the daughter of both the late Geneva Aleene Willingham and James Benjamin Baker. Mrs. Weaver grew up in the Church of Christ from a young age. She was known for her culinary skills especially when it came to making home-made banana pudding from scratch. She enjoyed many hobbies including working in her yard, but most of all she enjoyed the memories made with her dear family and precious grandchildren. She will be missed dearly and will forever live in the hearts of those who are close to her. Tina is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and infant brother, Roy Leon Vaughn. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Weaver of Ellerslie, Georgia; son, Jessie Bunch of Ellerslie, Georgia; step-children, Greg (Missy) Weaver of Columbus, Georgia and Kimberly (Rick) Malott of Ellerslie, Georgia; brother, James Lee Baker of New Diana, Texas; sisters, Angela Lobdell of Longview, Texas and Crystal Cheney of Montgomery, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her beloved Chihuahua, “Bunny,” and cat, “Trouble.” Please sign the online guestbook to leave condolences for the Weaver family.

Tiffany Kate Wyrosdick

Tiffany Kate Wyrosdick passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in Atlanta GA. Funeral services were planned for Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Johnson Brown Service Funeral Home in Valley. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Lanett. Rev. Harvey Miller officiated.  Visitation was held on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Tiffany is survived by her husband and partner, Marc Abney of Valley and three children that she loved more than anything in this world, her son, Truitt Santoya and daughters, Brooklyn Abney and Adalyn Abney also from Valley. Tiffany was born on June 2, 1992 along with her sister to parents, Emily Wight and Michael Wyrosdick both from Valley. Tiffany also leaves four loving sisters, Faith (Jacob) Inman of Valley, Kristen Wyrosdick of LaGrange, Shy-Ann Wyrosdick of Valley and Destiny Long of Dahlonega. Tiffany is also survived by her grandparents, Susan Sanders of Beulah, Donny (Rhonda) Sanders of Five Points and Fletcher Edmondson of Valley and her great-grand parents, Bobby Sanders of Lanett and Winfred (Emily) Raughton also of Lanett.  Tiffany was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Joyce Edmondson and Pete Brewer, her great-grandmother’s, JoAnn F. Sanders, Emily JoAnn James and her baby brother she finally got to meet.
Tiffany was a fun loving young woman that lived her life to the fullest. She was the best baseball mama for Truitt and the girliest of girl mama for Brooklyn and Adalyn. She was a life partner for Marc, a best friend to her sisters and the blue eyed ANGEL to the rest. She loved and was loved by many.

Connie Gaston Hamil

Mrs. Connie Gaston Hamil, age 51, peacefully left this earth on Saturday, October 22, 2016, to prepare an eternal home for her family. Connie was born February 5, 1965, in Alexander City, Alabama. She leaves behind her parents Ronnie Lee and Betty Whitley Gaston; her husband of 32 years, Scott Boyd Hamil; and two children, Andrew Boyd Hamil and Alexandra Marie Hamil, whom she loved more than words could ever express. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wood Gaston, Sr. and Marie Dean Gaston; her maternal grandparents, Emmett Whitley and Bertha Thornton Whitley. Connie was a 1983 graduate of Opelika High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. She was retired from Auburn University. Connie truly lived life to the fullest and was always happiest when she was helping others.  She loved her family and truly enjoyed spending time with them. Connie is also survived by her sisters, Selena Gaston Tapley (Gerry), Leigh Ann Gaston Thompson (Gregg), her brother, Michael Shane Gaston (Rebecca) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Family, friends, and others whose lives Connie touched were invited to visitation on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley from 10:00A.M. until 11:00A.M. Funeral services were held in the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel at 11:00A.M. on Friday. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett. “We only have one mother, Patient beautiful and true; No other friend in the whole world, Will be the same to me and you. Jacque White Ely

Jacque White Ely danced thru Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the West Georgia Hospice House in LaGrange, GA. Jacque was born on October 14, 1961 in Valley, AL. She was 55 years of age. She grew up and attended school in Eufaula, AL. She was a resident of Taccoa, GA at her time of death. She was the daughter of Tony and Phyllis White of West Point, GA. Her grandparents were the late Clyde and Pauline Mote and R.T. and Johnnie Dora White of Lanett. She is survived by her daughter, Blair Grant of Comer, AL; her two sons, Garrett Ely of Tuscaloosa, Al and Mason Ely of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Madison Leroy and Easton Marcellous, both of Comer, AL; sisters, Penny (Scott) Miller and Lachelle Jones, both of West Point, GA; niece, MacKenzi McGowan of West Point, GA; nephews, Tommy McGowan and John Michael McGowan, both of Auburn, AL, and Jack Jones of West Point, GA. Jacque was known to family and friends as a loving, kind, and caring mother, grandmother, daughter sister, and friend. She really loved getting to know people. The family would like to also acknowledge some who were very special and loving to Jacque. Steve and Carol Ann Kinzer, Two of Jacque’s dearest friends and God Parents to Garrett and Mason. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the West Point Presbyterian Church. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Church in Davis Hall prior to the funeral from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. James Michael “Mike” Embry

Mr. James Michael “Mike” Embry, age 70, of Hogansville, GA passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Embry was born July 10, 1946 in LaGrange, son of the late James Embry and Mary Jane Cofield Embry. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was employed with Interface Flor as the Safety and Training Instructor before retiring. Mr. Embry was a veteran of the U.S. Army.   Survivors include his wife, Judy Embry; daughters, Belinda (Junior) Faught and Deborah (Mike) Bryan; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Weatherford, Michael Bryan, Jr., and Jamie Bryan; great grandchildren, Carter, Caleb, and Caity Weatherford; brothers, Phil Embry, Dennis (Debbie) Embry, and Roger Embry; aunt, a very special Aunt Kathy Cofield, niece, Jessica (Tomas) Clough; and great nephew, Elijah Clough; mother in law, Lema Flournoy. The family will be at the home of his granddaughter Jennifer Weatherford at 213 Village Drive, LaGrange, GA 30240. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Rev. Brad Thompson officiated. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The gathering of family and friends was held from 2:00 until 3:00pm at the funeral home.
